Our Begining

Mtoto W’afrika was founded by two formerly vulnerable children who were led to inspire with passion, a growth of a new breed of leaders in Africa. They have since formed a growing team of volunteers that constantly serve above and beyond to meet the need towards realizing Community development & sustainability. Our Calling Is All About fulfilling the Great Commission.

SAMUEL & JOAN SEKIBEJJA

Sam & Joan are married with 3 beautiful children, Kristiana, Harrison, & Stephanie. They live in Kampala, Uganda, and oversee operations and administration of all programs and activities. Samuel is a Co-founder of Mtoto W’afrika and an expert in social work administration. Joan is the power-house behind the “Reach A Woman” program that empowers women in the communities. They are constantly humbled by the joy they observe among the families amidst the hardships. They acknowledge that great men & women are never born great, but are realized through solved problems and challenges.

COLLINS & SYDNEY MUGUME

Collins & Sydney are married and blessed with 2 girls, Leora and Nya. They currently live in the United States and give visionary oversight to the team. Collins is a Co-founder of Mtoto W’afrika and is involved in the creative works, executive leadership, and impact assessment. Sydney has a ministry development and organizational mind that is crucial in directing resources to make the greatest impact for the communities you send us to serve. Her passion for children is incomparable and fundamental for a great foundation. They trust that when “YOU” concentrate on building the people, God will transform communities. They pray for a future where the next generation is after God’s own heart, and that they will arise to the fullest potential as authentic leaders.

GARY & AIMEE MARX

Gary & Aimee have known the Mugumes for many years and even attended their wedding. It has always been clear that Collins & Sydney have a heart for serving people. The Mugumes are following the Lord’s calling where they currently live, but ultimately have a desire to serve permanently in Uganda. In September 2022, Aimee had the joy of participating in the first team mission trip from the U.S. to northern Uganda and left inspired by the heart of the Ugandan Mtoto W’afrika team to bring the Good News to the northern Uganda region. Gary & Aimee joined the Board in 2022 and are committed to help Collins, Sydney, and the Mtoto W’afrika team grow in their mission and help the Mugumes make the transition to life in Uganda. The Marx’s serve on numerous non-profit boards providing accountability, transparency and most of all encouragement. It is a humbling honor to help this incredible team and we are excited to see how the Lord makes it all happen!
